Project Challenge:
- wordpress site was being repeatedly hacked
- theme relied on a visual page builder which was mal-functioning
- Image files were universally too large for efficient web use
- large main three level navigation needed to be mirrored in sidebar
- long pages needed to be segmented into anchor section
- desire to keep header and sidebar in fixed position
- site integrates several forms of external content
- need to display linkage to 9 years of newsletter content
Project Approach:
- replaced all core code, plugins & themes with new “pristine” files
- authored custom theme to emulate the look of the old theme without the dependancy on visual page builder plugins
- optimized all images saving over 30% in used file space
- identified & configured a location aware jquery menu plugin for the sidebar menu
- put together an easily replicated anchor link scheme for long pages
- configured header & sidebar regions to remain in fixed position
- integrated external content into relevant site locations
- created tabbed sections for each year of newsletters
